Docklands – Finnboda Varv

The shipyard was founded in 1878 and in the following years until the turn of the century 1900, the shipyard developed into one of the country’s largest. On June 11, 1981, Finnboda’s last self-manufactured vessel, the 6,500-ton Nordic Link, was launched. The shipyard was then rebuilt to become the country’s second largest repair yard. In 1990, however, the demand for ship repairs fell sharply. As a result, the company went bankrupt in 1991, selling the large floating dock to Mexico.

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s there was a nightclub with Rave well into the morning. Then it was desolate for quite some time before it was demolished in favor of housing. I played in a Coverband at Docklands once in front of lots of tall kids. Very strange experience! Between the years 2000 – 2007 I was here on several occasions and photographed the decay.
